R.A.D. Program

R.A.D. Progam

The Recreational Academy Development or R.A.D. Program was created in 2017 Spring Season. MAYSO introduced this new format to our Under 9/10 age group as a transition from Recreational to Competitive Soccer.

MAYSO has two (2) levels of soccer (A) Recreational: Where players are introduced to soccer, learning the basic rules and skills needed to play the game. (B) Competitive: Where players are selected to join a team after holding a tryout. MAYSO’s youngest competitive age group starts at Under 11.
To help identify the players ready to transition to competitive soccer, and to challenge those on the edge. MAYSO has constructed the Recreational Academy Development Program. Here are the three (3) main differences between our standard recreational leagues and the new R.A.D. program.

1) TEAM RANKINGS - MAYSO will be keeping track of Wins, Loses and Ties, keeping team rankings and posting them weekly to the MAYSO.org website

a. We will not be tracking score / goal differential. Simply who Won, Lost, or Tied each week.

b. All players will still receive a participation award at the end of the season

c. First place team to receive an end of season party at “”**

2) ACADEMY TRAINING – Each practice night there will be multiple MAYSO Licensed Trainers organizing and running the practices. Players will work on the basic fundamentals of individual ball control, from trapping, passing and shot striking to more advanced game tactics. Trainers will be providing the correct and positive feedback young players need to stay interested and succeed on the field.

3) PARENT / COACH VOLUNTEERS – You are still needed to help assist during practices and be in charge on game days. Remember those competitive teams mentioned earlier? They too will need coaches, and the best way to get coaches is to develop coaches. So not only are the MAYSO trainers out developing the players they are also out developing coaches.
